Wanted to use something that everyone would recornise -so I went with a flower broken into pieces. Used a flash aimed up and bounced to difuse the light.

Opened in Raw and slight exposure, curves and saturation adjustments, export to PS CS3 and with various layers:
selected BG and adjusted levels to get an even black BG,
masked certain items and converted to B&W,
croped,
high pass sharpening,
tripple unsharp sharpen,
resize,
add border,
unsharp sharpen,

** Greetings from the Critique Club **

This image really does say a lot towards meeting the challenge. You're score and placement in the challenge is a result.

The composition is very creative. The selective desaturation was a good idea, not too much to make it obvious but enough that adds some contrast in the photo.

I do like the added saturation, it makes the pieces pop out along with the local contrast adjustments you made. It may be a little too sharp though.

Finally, the border does add a little something extra to the photo; I like it.

hey Silent Shooter.

Excellent placing and just missing on the top 10. Nice take and Im surprised by your selective Sats here...:)
Border was not needed or maybe a bit different would have helped. I think I need to come to you or you to me and see how you process your images..take me through the steps you have done above. Looking at the graph above it's an amazing score.

Love it. It looks like a photo of something from an old text book.

Quite a nice array of colors there. The contrast is a bit too harsh for me, and I think a general softening of the image would enhance the feel, but the composition is great, it's very creative and it's definitely a memorable image.
