 My trifecta for Grand Haven, MI this month. The colored version looked good, but not as good as B&W. Yes, it was very windy and very cold. That white stuff in the foreground in the crack is snow, not sea-foam. ;-) There were two guys in dry suits surfing the area to the right. By the time I made my way over to this spot they were done and gone. That would have made this shot awesome - having a surfer walking towards the lighthouse with his board or getting one of them in the background on a wave while another wave crashes into the lighthouse. Oh well, this will have to do.

Other than converting to B&W, vignetting it, and adding some noise, I also added some blur in the foreground.(I think that's legal?)

Next time offer the surfers a beer, or two. Maybe they will stick around for you! Great image, I like the dof and energy.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Wonderful POV - this low perspective makes the shot for me. The selective focus is interesting and creates something that goes beyond 'capturing a dramatic wave scene' and makes your photographic choices clear to the viewer. I like that. The birds are the final crowning touch, offering a touch of life to this stark scene.

Overall: A great take on this scene.

Great picture, I love the grain and depth of field. This feels like an old timey picture. Really like it, especially in Black and White.
