I live in a very 'bland' place as far as scenery goes. The desert is very barren. On christmas day my son and I took our ATV's up into the mountains where it had recently snowed. The day was dreary and overcast. All of a sudden, I noticed a hole had opened in the clouds and was shining on the desert floor about 30 miles away and 5000 feet lower in elevation. It looked totally cool so I snapped a photo. Actually, I don't even know how to do that HDR stuff. In fact, I think it turns photos into cartoons. My edit was very basic. I did lighten the shadows 'cause it was so dark and burned the desert floor below because it was a little washed out. Other then that, it's pretty much just a photo. But, my score is very low: sadly. I think most people think I have over-processed what is a fairly normal photo - and they are low-balling it. Noise? Not really seeing it. Hmmm...it's ok

I really like this and would like it even better were it not for so much noise. Such a view....

A very good scene to capture. Unfortunately, I think you just missed on having a really beautiful photo. Seems you may have used some HDR technique that is causing some un-naturalness to this scene.
