 Early 1980, seven years old, self portrait in my mother's dresser mirror. This would be shortly after my father died. I remember all the old Macedonian women at his funeral, friends of my grandmother, sobbing and handing me pity from their pocketbooks. That's how I was able to buy the camera. I believe it was a Kodak instant camera called "The Handle."
