Challenge: Posthumous Ribbon (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-450D Rebel XSi
Lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
Location: Richvale, CA
Date: Nov 25, 2010
Aperture: f5.6
ISO: 320
Shutter: 1/60
Galleries: Abstract, Emotive
Date Uploaded: Nov 25, 2010

I started with a photo of a coil of 2 inch rope and took the picture in late morning daylight.
I added light artistic watercolor filter, then adjusted the hue, saturation and temperature, then readjusted the saturation.
I added 180 degree twist of a distortion filter, then 4 bits of radial blur.
Then I cropped it off center and did some image correction, adding vignette with max settings then distorted the image by bringing out the center.
All this with Photoshop Elements 8.

The idea behind the Posthumous Ribbon is to encourage you to break the rules, to find new and different ways to express yourself. To free your mind to think clearly toward the solution that is certain to come, to laugh at world and at life, not doing what others are expecting you to do, but just following and listening to what's in your heart. DPC it’s a wonderful learning place where everyone should be supported on their way to be a photographer. A special attention should be aimed to those working hard with different views and approaches to photography, those not aligned with the mainstream taste and receiving no recognition. It’s our responsibility to support these photographers creating diversity and expressing different visions. Being active at the Posthumous thread it’s the best way to do it. Being active at the Posthumous thread it’s the best way to protect your and the other’s freedom of being different. Thanks for taking the time to enter this challenge. Stay wild.

lovely abstract, spiraling lines make for a strong composition, the eye is bound into the center of the photograph, but all the while with a sense of flying. This was a contender. 7 from me.

A good abstract composition that could be helped by some more dramatic lighting -- or a tripod.

Pretty abstract. Love the combination of oof with the detail.

Just a bit too much order to deeply scratch my abstract itch. But it does have a lovely cycle, or sense of resolution, to it. And so I enjoyed looking at it. Thank you.

Still can't figure out the original object, but I see a blood beaten Wall Street trader at the last bell.

Not sure what you did or how it's done. What I AM sure of however is that I love it. The colors, shapes, swirl and everything. 9

I have no idea what this is but that doesn't matter. The movement, in and out of focus and the splash of red makes this dreamy for me and one of the best shots I've seen so far in this challenge. I don't need to but would like to know what this is. I'm guessing tree bark?
