I've been away from DPC for nearly two years, I haven't taken a photo in over a year but by chance I wandered by to have a look and saw the Posthumous challenge and with fond memories of Team Suck I decided to enter. I didn't want to take just a pretty picture but to show something of myself,a self portrait without me in it.

This is my day. For the past year I've been suffering from panic attacks and anxiety with a good dose of depression thrown in just to make it interesting. I don't cope well with being outside and I get anxious around people. So this is the view from my window, I look outside through my security screens and the world looks too bright, too colourful, too loud, too extroverted for me to cope with. Inside, behind my screens it's quiet and dark, it cocoons me and keeps me safe. Safe behind my screens I don't have to try and be anything that I'm not, I can be quiet and it's okay. I don't have to put on the happy outgoing act that the world demands, I'm exhausted by the effort, it's nice to just be quiet. I look out at my clothesline but I haven't hung clothes on it in months, I don't like to be out there for that long. It's not a very pretty picture and I know the voters won't like it but it's honest and it was scary to put it out there but I did it and that bought me a little closer to healing. I'm getting over it, little by little, the next step is to take a photo outside...where there's no people....maybe on a grey day...perhaps at night...baby steps.

The idea behind the Posthumous Ribbon is to encourage you to break the rules, to find new and different ways to express yourself. To free your mind to think clearly toward the solution that is certain to come, to laugh at world and at life, not doing what others are expecting you to do, but just following and listening to what's in your heart. DPC it’s a wonderful learning place where everyone should be supported on their way to be a photographer. A special attention should be aimed to those working hard with different views and approaches to photography, those not aligned with the mainstream taste and receiving no recognition. It’s our responsibility to support these photographers creating diversity and expressing different visions. Being active at the Posthumous thread it’s the best way to do it. Being active at the Posthumous thread it’s the best way to protect your and the other’s freedom of being different. Thanks for taking the time to enter this challenge. Stay wild.

Somehow you did manage to make it look grey and depressing 'outside', while it's green and lush on the 'inside'. Great job! 8
