I like this different, iconic view of the homeless. We don't need to see his face to know the wrapper from his last meal never found a trash bin, or that he made the money for that meal by begging from customers while they were filling their gas tanks. He is just another faceless statue, a frozen reminder of our insensitivity.
The thin blanket isn't much protection from an unexpected cold snap in Alabama. Maybe at least one fellow human offered him a warm jacket.

I've been trying to temper my general distaste for pictures of homeless people while evaluating this image. I'm not doing so well. This is a sad but common scene, and, especially in this case, all too easy to capture -- i.e. no risk of eye contact, you're at a safe distance, and your subject is immobilized. I appreciate that you're trying to show us a sad state of affairs, but in my opinion, this doesn't add anything to an already overflowing body of homeless people photography.
A surer strategy would be to take the guy (let's assume it's a guy) a hot cup of coffee and a donut, get to know him a little bit, and then take his picture -- i.e. show us more of the man and less of his condition. Of course, that's easy for me to suggest from the comfort of my PC. Anyway... |

| The idea behind the Posthumous Ribbon is to encourage you to break the rules, to find new and different ways to express yourself. To free your mind to think clearly toward the solution that is certain to come, to laugh at world and at life, not doing what others are expecting you to do, but just following and listening to what's in your heart. DPC it’s a wonderful learning place where everyone should be supported on their way to be a photographer. A special attention should be aimed to those working hard with different views and approaches to photography, those not aligned with the mainstream taste and receiving no recognition. It’s our responsibility to support these photographers creating diversity and expressing different visions. Being active at the Posthumous thread it’s the best way to do it. fantastic.
Bumping this score up a notch. I think the spirit of the ribbon sometimes involves seeing the unseen and presenting it in a way that isn't much different than our eye might have seen it, if it was looking … which it probably wasn't. 8 |

| A person in a wheelchair covered in a blanket? At 6:45 am? Surely not? But I suppose I must take your word for it. Still ... how would a wheelchair-bound person drape a blanket over themselves in this way? With great difficulty, as in pretty much everything else, I suppose. |

| Breaks my heart. This world can be so cruel. Shots like this should be more visible in our daily lives as a reminder of how some people live. Nice capture and perfect processing. |
