I'm not a big fan of texture. Too often it seems to be done for the sake of just having texture, or to distract from a flaw in the image.

I really like this one. It gives an ethereal quality to the imatge that would be missing if it were not there. In this case, 1+1=10. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

What we need are challenges that simply allow the photographer/artist to deliver their best image uninterrupted and let the voters decide on what's too much. This image is alive and has a soul. Our outdated rules forbid such imagery while favoring the uninvolved generic variety instead.
