This strange kind of glowing orange hued kind of light happens sometimes here in Holland during the days of mid-autumn when the sky has just started clearing slightly after rain and the late afternoon sun which hangs low on the horizon at this time of the year casts long shadows and the light gets filtered and reflected through and from the gaps in the dark clouds that have just shed their rain. Often a rainbow can be seen too. The cast of the light is made to look even stronger as it sets the autumn colors in the trees and the stubble of the wheat field ablaze.

We've had a few days this fall with scenes like this, the light like that. Awesome to behold in person. Funny how it doesn't quite ring true in a photo.

well I liked it and gave it a 7. One of a handful that scored a 7. Perhaps because here we get the same type of light in the fall after a rainstorm over the corn fields and the hay fields. I do agree it does seem a tad oversharpened and that the buildings took away from the shot but not enough to give it a horrible score. :)

I think the limited DOF here, lead to the over sharpened or over processed look. Instead of f5.6, I think you could have used f16 or f22, depending on use of a tripod or how steady your hands area (or how much high ISO your camera can handle). This would have more of the area front to back be in sharp focus.

Composition-wise, I am not sure the building on the left really fit the scene. Perhaps a different angle could have got the fields and trees and left out the building.

Looked like HDR at first glance to me quite honestly.

I gave this a 5 (along with 63 others) as I too thought it looked incredibly oversharpened on the trees/field in contrast to the sky that looks like it has had too much noise reduction applied. For me the light wasnt the issue, it was the post-processing. I think your overall score is bang on for this entry.

to me it seems that your field and trees are not right in the coloring...has an odd hue to them
