Location: pasture behind our house in deming, WA
Date: Oct 10, 2010
Aperture: f/11
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/80
Galleries: Sky, Nature
Date Uploaded: Oct 10, 2010

picture taken in the pasture behind our house just before sunset, i set the exposure with the sky, to get the pretty sky colors, then brought the camera to the horse and used the flash to light him up. cropped, resized, added boarder, sharpened, cloned out some trees and rotated a bit, and cloned a few flies off the horses nose. warmed up the color temp a bit, brightened the horses face and enhanced the colors a bit.

Greetings From the Critique Club

First Impressions:
wow! Great photo! love the pov

Technical (Comp, lighting, color, focus):
you got this at a good time of day for the back lighting and you did a nice job with the fill flash; wonderful composition; I think the boarder is very well done

Challenge:
you got it

Artistic/Emotion:
I'm not sure, but I think it would take a horse person to really connect with this photo. Or maybe just a horse lover. (I myself am a former horser person and still a horse lover)

Summary:
I love the pov on this picture but it maybe where some of your lower votes came from. It could be a not so flattering angle to some folks. I also see that folks commented on the noisy sky. Yeah, that could be an overall problem, but I really don't see the sky as I'm looking at the horse. The best suggestion I have would be a little added light towards the forhead and ears.

Very nice, but if I can nitpick, a little noise reduction in the background could have benefited it.

Almost perfect -except the noisy / pixelised sky (with sensor dust as well)

There is something so very winsome about this image. Gotta love a horse's muzzle.

the graduated border is distracting, it would look better without it. also his eyes are too dark. you could use a higher power for flash and stand further away with your lens more extended towards telephoto.
