My husband ties flies for fishing. Metal on Metal was a little hard to wrap my mind around, until I saw him tying some flies. Ah ha! metal on metal! I took this outside with the fly tying vice stuck into the grass. I thought the green of the grass would make a nice backdrop for the metal and the fly.

Good shot. A mirror image would of probably scored you a little better, as it would of given you the coveted bottom left to top right sight line.

I find those lures true works of art.

tph1This one was just for show. He usually ties dry flies and nymphs too, but they aren't all that fun to look at.

I generally fish with dries, or nymphs, but the wet flies are the most beautiful. Your husband does a fine job. The photo is good too! Five ones?? Don't let it bother you. Just consider it a comment on the voters and not the image. :-)

Bear_Music My score really didn't bother me that much, I think technically it is a sound picture, but your right about it being not a great example of metal on metal. The five 1's are what bother me the most, I only give a 1 if the picture is both off subject and poor quality.

For THIS challenge, not a bad finish at all, when you consider that, arguably, the image isn't a real strong example of "metal on metal"; If you were to ask me to fill in the blanks and title this "Metal on ____", I'd probably use the word "grass" :-)

It's a good, clean, well-made image. Keep up the high technicals and when you click with an image that resonates with voters AND the topic, you'll have a winner :-)

Very interesting take on the challenge. Good job with the soft lighting and the high details.
