Macro of my eye. The circular catchlight is from my homemade ringflash. I took a disposable aluminum carryout pan and cut a hole in the center to fit a section of cardboard tube. I used duct tape to fasten the tube to the pan. I then cut a window in the side to fit the end of my Speedlight. Used a circular piece of parchment paper for the "lens".

For the shot, I mounted the camera on a tripod and slid the center tube of my ringflash over the camera lens. Used a wired remote trigger and handheld the speedlight in position and fired off-camera using D80 in Commander mode.

Read your notes, read the article in PP also. This is an awesome shot. The ringflash is right on. Such incredible detail. I thought this would've placed much higher. Gave you a 9 FWIW.

Very cool catchlight. Somehow this looks like a predator's eye - evil and hungry :) Amazing detail in the Iris. My top 5 for this challenge.
