~~~~Critique Club Comment~~~~
*Composition (content)*
I loved this shot right away, as I am a sucker for urban landscapes and long exposure roads with car lights. The challenge is easily met, that is not an issue. The rules were broad and the sky is blue, but more important is the nice blue reflection on the snow on the edged of the roof and the ground.
As I already said in my previous comment: Nice perspective.
Altought the title say's that The Drake is the main subject, the eye is drawn to the streets with traffic. I see an urban artery, a city alive.
You could say that the building at the right spoils it a bit and that it should be cropped out, but on the other hand it gives a glimp of live behind those windows. It still has some detail because of a good exposure.
The only dissapointment is that the red lights in the right lanes are overblown by all the white light from the uncoming traffic, but there is not much you can do about that.
*Background*
Nice sky with some clouds, horizon is visible because of the lights.
*Camera Work (Technical)*
Horizon looks straight enough. The building on the right distorts somwhat, I guess because of a wideangle lens setting, not much can be done about that from this position I think.
Exposure is good, there is detail in the shadow of the building at the right, the snow isn't blown out. Good depth of field. Sharpness ok.
*Digital Processing (technical)*
Looks good. I noticed that the file is only 100k. Try to save it at a higher quality, to keep sharpness and detail up. The limit is 150kb. It doesn't hurt the picture here, but keep it in mind.
*My opinion*
I like it!
And I really need to go to Chicago one day. I studied Chicago's urban history for America Studies at the Amsterdam University, there is so much architecture to photograph there. I'll add it to my favorites. ;-)
A little less exposure and it'd be much better. 6
Very good photo, but I am not sure I would consider it "blue"
awesome. nice and sharp.
definately blue. Great shot. Could also go for motion too. :) I like the angle and framing/cropping. Focus and clarity are good, you can almost see into the windows in the building. Gret shot. Good luck in the challenge.
Matching the title to the picture took a little time, but I found it. Good cityscape. I THINK the horizon is right even though the buildings are not. 9
I thought I already gave this a 10. Ole well, here it is again. PTL
Is that the Longshore Parkway in Chicago? Traffic is crazy. Good Shot.
Its a good photo, and I like it a lot, but I'm not sure it fits the challenge as well as some others. I mean, yes, it has blue, but only the sky. The photo doesn't make me think "blue".
Awsome shot. Is this in Chicago?
Nice shot. I like the view and your decision on the shutter speed. The building on the right seems a little too dark and heavy for the rest of the image maybe.
Very well done! I might have considered cropping out the building on the right, but still a great shot. - 9
the glow of the lights is almost too powerful in this pic because of the blue theme of the week... but still, a really great shot!
Vancouver?
very nice, only critique is the tilted buildings on either side which probably was unavoidable due to distortion, makes me wonder if there are any large format digital cameras :).
I like the lines in this shot.
The building on the right almost chops off the picture.... might have liked it better without it there. Great colors!
COOL
Could have some more blue! Otherwise a good night shot.
The effect of the car lights are neet, but I fail to 'see' or 'feel' blue while viewing this image.
Outstanding picture, It doesn't feel as blue as some of the others I've seen though... still excellent photo.
