These chairs are kind of famous here. They are normally shot from behind with Haystack Rock in Canon Beach in the background. I actually shot this for the Chair challenge. One of the first times I didn't read the description of the challenge. I uploaded it and noticed It was way off the mark for the challenge. I went down the next day to reshoot. It had rained over night so I lost the contrast/highlights in the sand and people had walked all over the nice smooth sand. So I lost my opportunity to enter the challenge. Lesson learned. READ the complete challenge description....Lol.

I thought this was quite good. This was one of the several 9's I gave out this challenge.

Great composition and texture. I love the smooth foreground, the detailed area around the chairs and fading out to the background. It has really a nice flow.

Very meditational Must a bit more depth and detail to the chairs, especially to contrast the smooth ocean of sand.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: I really like this - the combination of the smooth foreground sand and the textured broken sand behind with the textures of the chair works so well. What is most striking though is how well you've judged the light and your exposure - I love the deep shadows. Then of course we have the mystery of the overall shot - what are the chairs doing there?

Critical stuff: Not much at all.

Overall: Wonderfully crafted shot, I wouldn't have dreamed so much interest could be created from a couple of chairs on sand.

Composition is a little off. Could be a nicer photo though :( 5
