I messed up when taking a bunch of shots, including this one. It was shady, but I had ISO locked at 100 and the shutter locked at high speed, so that I could freeze any movement. On top of that, I was too engrossed in watching the ducks, that I never looked at the LCD to see how they looked. When I got home, I thought I had a ton of worthless shots that were mostly black, but I was able to pull out some detail when I learned to adjust the brightness and dynamic ranges of images in Canon's Digital Photo Professional. It's still not a great quality image, but I feel a lot better with something, rather than nothing the one time that this young one came pretty close to me.
