Photographed in the abandoned Swift meatpacking plant after rainstorms had cleared. I noticed the potential in this as I was looking around, and it was quite nteresting to photograph. The floor was covered in several inches of water. Breezes, the sun cutting in and out of the clouds outside, and the drips coming in from the floor above, caused this scene to change moment to moment. I probably shot several dozen frames of this and I think this one was the best of the bunch. I like the way this captured some nice color in the ripples from the floor beneath and the drip landed right on the corner of the window's reflection.

I have no feeling for how this will do. I think it is interesting and I like it a lot, but abstracts often fare poorly in challenges that are not clearly abstract friendly.

Anticipated critiques:
-Some may not feel it is not underexposed, due to what looks like highlights in the reflection. (In fact, those are midtones.)
-I may get some comments that don't understand how the title relates to the image. It's an abstract, you don't have to understand.

Post-challenge notes:
Can't complain at all. Not only did I do well on the popular vote, but it also appealed to a segment of hard to please members. A very successful entry for me.

This is one of the more beautiful abstracts I've seen in awhile. The colors and geometric interest work so well. In a word, dramatic!

good abstract, great shapes and then beautiful in its details.

Fabulous composition, great colors -- like wet paint.

It's actually beautifully exposed, and not underexposed. Any more light than this and the picture was lost (unless one resorted to one of those HDR abominations, in which case it's the photographer that would be lost). Photographs of consequence are rarely about detail, rarely about what's said: it's what's not said that gives them voice. Just like this. Top two pick from me.
