It's good to come across a photograph that just meets all your expectations of what can be done with a camera and a brain. And it's alarming to realise what a very small percentage of photographers produce those kind of photographs. Nicht neun (ein mehr).
Ah - again with the juxtapositions and visual tensions.
Two characters.
Both sit at ninety degrees to one another.
Different ages - one young, one older.
One in shorts and sandles - one in a suit.
One absorbed by a flashing screen - one refined and elegant.
We know so little about these two - no name, no pack drill . . but there is still a story waiting to be told. One that can at least be hinted at or have a sketchy outline drawn by rudimentary observation.
You could have a whole short story competition just based on this one picture.
My only wonder is whether the title should be ammended a tiny bit to something like 'Playstation Generation' ? just to further reinforce the differences.
I know that ive told you this before but i just love your work. these public "candids" that seem like they could be posed juxtapositions. you really know how to expose society, culture, and life, instead of just exposing light.
The composition in this shot is fascinating. I especially like the diagonal of the legs in the foreground contrasted with the squares in the background. The little kid with his game in one of the cubicles is the frosting on the cake. The mood is so LA Noir it kills me.
