 I forgot to add my notes- this is a series of 5 minute exposures stacked upon themselves. There would have been more of a star trail but a cloud destroyed the bottom of the photo in the later exposures. There is actually zero cropping- the top left corner is at Polaris by estimation and luck (I was guessing, and couldn't see anything through the viewfinder so I just estimated with my gorillapod placement aiming). The camera on gorillapod sat outside my tent whilst I was inside reading a book and in my sleeping bag. My watch would go off, I would close the remote release and re-open it. I expect to do more of these in the future, as I have numerous winter trips planned and there is better clarity in the winter.
