 the Tower was originally built by the king of Iran, and named Shahyad, means King's Memorial. after the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the new regime changed it's name to Azadi (Freedom) Tower. it's been considered the symbol of Tehran for a long time; Milad tower came into the picture recently, though.

Great photo, nice perspective but I think it would look better if the top of the tower did not touch the border.
