In step one I used the polygonal lasso tool to make a pattern and then put a stroke around it.
In step two, retaining the ‘crawling ants’ selection, I used an action I created to make the repetitions.
The action consists of a 20° rotation and then a 20% reduction in size of the selected area. I repeated the action about 15-18 times to create the spiral.
In step three I erased the portions of the stroke lines I didn’t want and cropped. It is (for me anyhow) impossible to re-create the original piece, but you get the idea.
The earliest spiral abstract in this thread was done by selecting the entire image and doing the rotation/reduction routine.
By varying the rotation between right & left, and the numbers, all sorts of patterns can be accomplished.
