 This was such a nice night. My daughters, my wife's cousin, and her kids ... we were all lying on the dock in Vermont stargazing and talking about the science of the night sky.

While I was out there, I figured I'd grab a star trails shot. Their reaction was worth the small amount of effort. :)

I highly encourage you to try this kind of shot yourself. It just requires a camera you can set on bulb mode and a remote to keep the shutter open.

The purple hazy spots are where the sensor heats up during the long exposure. Easy enough to fix even in basic editing with just a hue/sat adjustment, as I did with my entry in an earlier challenge. But that's ok - minimal effort yielded a nice shot.

Lucky for me, my wife's grandfather built this cottage in 1913 and we get to go up there every August.

Although I absolutely love William's and Otto's winning entries, I am so sad that this one did not score higher. Absolutely brilliantly done.

I believe that the picture title should have under as a prefix and this is such a wonderful picture it should go a ten. I am not sure what to do? Abstain? Ah what is a title compared to such a beautiful picture. 10 it is.
