Operated by Lowell Observatory, the LONEOS dome is located at Anderson Mesa in Northern Arizona. Although it's original purpose was to search for near Earth objects, it now performs other projects for the observatory.

This image consists of a stack of three 10 minute shots of the foreground and three 10 minute tracked shots of the sky that were combined to create this composite. The image was featured in the June 2007 issue of Astronomy magazine as part of an article about Brian Skiff and the Lowell Observatory Near Earth Object Survey. The Winter Milky Way can be seen reaching upward. The bright star at top is Procyon, and the brighter star at right is Sirius. The yellow hue glowing around the tree trunks is the light dome of Phoenix over 100 miles to the south.
