The bottle tree is a Southern Tradition, started by slaves in the Delta region. Bottles were hung in trees. Evil spirits would be intriqued by the shimmering light created by the bottles. The evil spirits would enter the bottles to get closer to the light and there they would become trapped. If you listen close you can hear the spirits moan as they lament their entrapment. The next morning when the sun rose the spirits would be burned and destoryed by the suns light.
