An old gravestone out at the Chichester family cemetery, which is hidden behind some big, new houses. We only knew about it because my husband got a book about local US Civil War sites in our part of Fairfax County, including places where Civil War participants are buried.
Funky place; like a lot of old cemeteries it told stories about the people and families buried there if you could read the writing on the gravestones. It was apparently restored in the 1990's but looks like it hasn't gotten much attention in recent years. The earliest recorded gravestone is from 1835 and the latest 1972.
Dismal weather, but that seemed appropriate for visiting a graveyard. Loved all the greens in this shot, like the stone is gradually blending into the woods as the writing fades away.
