 Okay, it's time to get silly. The pot was placed next to a curving mirror ($15 at some junk sale & constantly in use as a prop). The resulting image was processed with various Nik's Color Efex filters. I forgot to keep track of which ones.

Definitely not sick of your coffee pot, Alice. I love this abstract, and yes it certainly does conjure up gossiping sea lions. The background is a little evocative of the prows of ships.
