 Not much you can do to make a knob interesting. So post processing to the rescue.
Upper right: Nik's Detail Stylizer applied at 50% with Dissolve blending mode
Upper Left: Original, out of the camera
Lower Left: Nik's Solarization
Lower Right: Fractilius program - a random preset. This program generates lines/textures in fascinating patterns. Just pushing the random selection button is addictive. (But I haven't figured out how to go back!)

Ooooh. Nice. I'm assuming this is the same knob processed four different ways. I may have to try that exercise myself. I imagine it would be quite the learning experience. (I like the purple on white the most.)
