I love this style of lighting, with just a touch of reflective light or a small fill-in flash. That avoids some possible white-out highlights of the hair that may not have any pixels of color and then not be able to print.
The sun and a reflector is the cheapest light source. You can use an accordian-fold window sun reflector placed on dashboards of pickup trucks. "SystemPro Reflecta Disc" makes nice large circular one, like the 41" diameter 5-in-1 pack (reflective, Silver, White, Gold, combination Gold-Silver, and Translucent White) The wire frame folds down and the 4-sided cover unzips to use the reverse sides. |

Yes...reflector or white poster board to push light onto her face would have been sweet !!! |

Very nice backlighting! Would've loved another version of this shot where she's completed the turn to face the camera. |

FABULOUS the way you caught the light in her hair! I love it. A reflector to bounce light on the side of her that we see would have gone a long way, but as you say, you don't have one... |
