This is a fantastic composition, most notably because of the expression it seems. I don't agree with much of the criticism because lately the most im[portant aspect of photography for me is emotion and where the eye is "forced" to go in the shot. Here, the eye is wants to look at the gloss off the hair or the shine of teh lips, but instead is forced to the area directly below the eye, peripherally viewing th erest of the photo. That gives the photo its charm and enhances the composition.
There is one criticism, I have viewd several of your shots and it could be my monitor or yours but the deep richness appears to be lacking, on this shot. The contrast? levels, I don't know- but if you use the rule that the focal point of the conposition is the area where darkest meets lightest- your darks in this photo could be a bit darker, and it would really be killer.
anyway- its just my unlearned opinion- great shot. |

Critique Club
Excellent in meeting the challenge your desaturation here is put to use well. The detail in the hair and lips is very strong and grabs your attention. But what I don't like is a slightly over exposed area just below the eyes along the nose...there is an area there that grabs your attention cause it appears to white.
Your composition and cropping here make this good...even with that small flaw I still think you should have scored higher. Nice creative take on the challenge.

| I like the symmetrical split of the face with only one half on. Soft high exposure shot. Nice pose, good composition. I would like the contrast of the lips the same as the hair, more balenced that way. But still good. |

| great pose - would have preferred a little more saturation and contrast here, but I love the soft tones of the lipstick matching the hair - nicely done. |

| High key works again. I don't know if you are the same photographer who usually does things in high key but if you are it works. (Even if you aren't it works.) I love the purple hair. |
