Challenge: Hidden Gem: Break Time (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Asahi 17mm f/4 SMC Takumar Fisheye in M42 Mount
Location: Pembroke College, Trumpington Street, Cambridge
Date: Jan 18, 2010
Aperture: f/10
ISO: 200
Shutter: 2, 4 and 8 seconds.
Galleries: Urban, High Dynamic Range (HDR)
Date Uploaded: May 5, 2010

Taken back in January while exploring the limitations of long exposure HDR pictures with a wide angle lens.

3 pictures were taken at -1/0/+1 ev, and merged using Photomatix Pro. I was very pleased with the outcome owing to the fact that it was a fairly foggy day. I imagine it helped the sky exposure.

Interesting things to note:
-The cyclist bumping up onto the pavement in the foreground and cycling off (look at the trail of their flashing light)
-The slight blur of people (almost shadow like) in the foreground too.
-The pleasant reflections from the wet ground. Especially on the cobbles.
-Slight distortion of the church on the left, an effect of a 17mm fisheye on an APS-C camera.

Enjoy.

nice ghost town effect, I think the reds and blues work well together, though the clouds do lighten a bit near the buildings.

I like the composition and the light trails. I don't like the over-processed feel, it has a strange glow about it and that makes it look as if it's not in focus. Also seems tilted a bit to the left.
