My wife can't eat an orange without zesting it first. This was a "found" still life -- found on my kitchen table. What caught my eye was the light from the setting sun, being filtered through some distant trees, beaming in through the kitchen window, and briefly but brilliantly illuminating this plate of zest. Within seconds after I shot this, the sun had sunk and the light disappeared. So there was no set up. Just a little piece of everyday life as seen in available light.

I'll add that this entry was straight off the camera. Zero editing -- not even in SPP (the Sigma raw editor) where all the sliders were set to zero. Not exactly bragging rights given my finish...

I thought this was an interesting play of light and shadow. The scene seemed a little curious, but now that I read your notes, I totally get what you were doing. I sometimes do that myself. Such spur of the moment shots might make a nice side challenge. This got a 6 from me, btw.

Nice idea, but the heavy shadows tend to make it less effective.

Lighting seems poor and picture notquite in focus?
