Last night camping out at the beach. I went out to the headlands, looking the mighty fool I'm certain with every bit of gear I had along strapped to my body in some manner. Among other experiments I wanted to play with lighting landscapes.
This is a brushed together final from three exposures, as I wandered around and held a little SB-900 in various places, scrambling in the 15-second delay between auto-released frames. One base image with mostly on-axis light for fill, one nice directional light from the side, and one kick from as far around behind the boulder as I could get.
Oddly, I expected my pocket wizards to do better on the open beach. I couldn't get a flash to trigger if I stood too far behind the huge hunk of rock. Hmm.

a little too dark in the foreground for me but still a calming shot to look at. would look better with more stars. what were your camera settings for this one?
