It would be interesting to see the reasonings for the people who gave me and other people 1's. I wish that those who did would leave a comment on why, if your going to give it... OWN UP TO IT! Thanks Andrew for the critique, I really appreciate it!

A wonderful photo. Sports photos are murder to get because you need the snap focus and speed and anticipation to capture the moment—and that is what sports is all about—the moment.

The composition of the shot is excellent—the circle of tension between the two players facing off and the object of the game suspended in the middle until it gets hit—what a moment! All the attention of the players is concentrated on that tiny object and it shows.

The exposure is great—it is so easy to underexpose the players because of the bright white ice. But the details are there even in the dark parts of the uniform. The focus is crisp with only the movement of the sticks blurring—this adds to the motion of the shot

I like the way you only see the side view of the faces covered in their masks—very powerful.

Your processing looks correct and no sign of digital nasties. All in all a great action shot—well done!

To those who took the time to comment on my photo, thanks so much! The comments were really appreciated, and I was joyful everytime I came back to the site and there was another comment! I'm really excited I did this well, as this was my first entry for this site, and also this was the second hockey game I ever shot! I was lucky to have a press pass to be able to shoot this for my school (Cornell University) yearbook! Thanks again to everyone!

Excellent catch! Could be a bit clearer, but nice all the same.

awsome timing....love the tension on the shot...wish there was more lighting on their faces, and the ref wasn't blocking them

Great shot, it looks like you were sitting on the players bench! Tough with all of that white background too. One of my favs of the week. DPz

Great shot. Definately belongs in the paper. Angle and framing/cropping are good, and your focus and clarity are good as well. Very nice. ~Heather~

Had it not been for the puck, this photo would have failed to capture as much attention. Good snag. Sharp, in focus, carries attention. Very good job.

nice action shot it is difficult to get the light right in arenas maybe a fill flash to get the determination on the players faces? or this was a zoom lens with flash that didn't brighten them up enough but I love the puck in mid air...9- rll07

A fine action shot, and would be good for the Sports page. Did you use your DPC press pass to get such a good vantage point? 8 JEM

Great stop action! Must have a heck of a lens to have gotten this shot! Easily the best sports photo this week -- and one of my favorites so far. Great job! muckpond

Great shot. I know how hard it is to shot in this type of lighting.

A nicely done shot -- nice & close up! My only criticism would be that I would have preferred to see something with a little more action, like a goal being scored, etc. Or perhaps something that would show a players' expression after scoring, or being scored upon, etc. 8 -- alansfreed

Would have preferred a tighter crop so that you couljd just see the players and the puck. Good sports picture though.

Good action shot! At first I thought the shadow areas were lacking detail, but that was just the brightness on my monitor. Good job.

Great action shot. Can't say much about this, except that it wouldn't look at all out of place in a newspaper!

Great capture. The puck dropping is really great. This is a picture I could see on the front of the sports section any given day. - Inspzil

IMO the relationship between the title and picture are key elements in this challenge. This is a great sports shot, showing action, intent, and subject matter. Super job.

Nice stop action, with just a little but of blur to show movement, this could easily be on the sports page of a local newspaper
