I really liked this photo...it was different, and beautifully photographed. Some comments mention the jogger, but I think it adds to the photo giving it a great contrast and perspective. This photo should have done better in votes, and that is my opinion.

I'm getting better at spotting your work, Zeus. This is lovely. It was in my top 10. It has a surreal, painterly quality to it. I love the juxtaposition of the lone bird flying and the tiny runner. A truly unique nature shot!

Added after reading the comments... I wrote my comment before reading any others. It is interesting to note that a couple of other viewers shared my experience.

A true work of art. The only thing that doesn't work for me is the jogger. It does provide some scale, but that scale makes the bird seem gigantic. I love the black background that makes the bird relly pop and the muted brown in the foreground. There is a train to a town called "Ribbonsville" you should hear it approaching.

I love the bird. I think the photo would do much better without the lower area. Just the bird against the black. That makes for a wonderful photo...maybe try it :)

i really like the surreal feel of this shot -- like a painting. One of my favorites this challenge.

Outstanding image. Given the simplicity of the over all image, I feel the person on the breakwater is a bit of a distraction. Of course that is just my opinion. 9

I don't think the editing you did here improves the photo...Nice DOF though.

For me this would work better if the bottom part were cropped out and there was just a long horizontal image with the flying bird. The lighting on the bird is lovely.

wow....great photo....I really like this....I like the flight of the bird, and the straightness towards the bottom....

Not sure I like what you did with the sky here...

Was there a real need to cut out the egret? The lines are a bit harsh in the selection borders, makes the image look like a pasted on collage.

Totally surreal and very well executed. The knobby thing on the right bottom is distracting because I have no idea what it is. 8
