March 2010 my husband and I went to Portugal for vacations.
Sintra is a town located at the Lisbon Region.
The town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site on account of its 19th century romantic architecture.
When we stayed there was late in the afternoon and the weather didn't help us. We only drove around the city, so, I don't know what this house is :(

Now I know! "House of stones"
Thanks a lot zeuszen and thanks to digifotojo too

Cool looking house. Your edit brings out the best about it, with the strong colors and lines of the house against the trees.

What a fantastic piece of fantasty! I'd love to live in something like this. Even if it's not old enough for ghosts, it looks like a place they could stay.

WOW - what a cool place. Nothing like that here in the States. When I first read "Sintra" I thought Sinatra - and that took on a meaning all its own. HAHAHA

Googled it.. also known as Casa dos Penedos:

On the slops of the mountain is Casa dos Penedos (aka House of stones). Quite a unique piece of architecture with its curves and peaked towers not to mention the colour. Built in 1921-22, the base of this mansion is in the form of arches and it all just rises up from there in amongst the dense foliage. The house was designed by Raul Lino who lived an amazing long life for his time. Born in 1879, he studied both in England and Germany. Many of his creations are scattered throughout Portugal. They include the Tivoli Theatre and Brazil Pavilion in Lisbon, St Patricks Tower in Estorial and the Casa do Cipreste also in Sintra. The house is privately owned.

What a cool building. I'm waiting for elves and fairies to come out on the balcony...

The manor is called "Casa dos Penedos" (House of Stones), a private holding. Google has more info.

Whatever that building is, it looks like it belongs in a fairytale. Perhaps the one where everyone goes to sleep for 100 years.

Great building, could do with some renovating though.

Whatever it is it is cool looking! You can almost feel the gloom in the air.
