i really love pictures of old churches! i took a million myself in italy! ;) this one has a sort of haunted feel to it, perhaps because of the way the gravestones are leaning---but i love that about it! i also really like the shadows--they could almost be darker in my opinion. the composition is nice, and although i find myself wondering if it would have looked like if you had taken a couple of steps to the left, im glad you didnt because you would have lost the shadows from the gravestones. the upward angle is really cool, it adds to the spooky feel by seeming like the church is really looming over you. technically, the focus seems just a tiny bit soft and the color almost monotone--like i said before, i might have liked to see a bigger difference in the stones and shadows, but that is just me! all in all, really nice photo! keep up the good work!

the whole thing leans to the right...

This must be in Pisa, Italy.

great long shadows. appropriate black and white. like that the focus is good enough for the stones in front, the crosshatching in the window, the lines between the bricks. wonder where you pointed the camera to get it to do that automatically, or if you have a manual camera you did a real nice job. eight, even though it's not really action-adventure like some of the best in this challenge are.

Really nice shot. I like the old graves.

Aw, and then those dang power lines showed up :-) I like the fact that you tell a story, but it's a sad story that says this... "This church has been here a long time and has gradually died off. The shadows are long at the end of its day, and the skies are cloudy because it sees no hope of tomorrow." Is that the right story? :-)

This does not rub me the right way. Why is the Church angled.???

I was considering taking a shot of a church and calling it 'Parish Weekly News' or something (the church I attended as a kid has been using the same photo on the front cover for 20 years!).
I would have liked to have seen this in colour, there's obviously some good sunlight so the greens/browns/greys would have been nice I hope.
Unfortunately everything appears to be leaning to the right, although I can see from the gravestones that this isn't entirely your fault.
I would also have liked to have seen a door - I think it would make the building look more 'inviting'.
Still, not a bad shot, meets the challenge, and worthy of a decent score.

I bet it is an interesting story. I only wish the shot was a little bit brighter.

Interesting, but leans a bit much to the right. It is also a little dark.

It seems a little soft on focus and everything seems to be leaning to the right. DPz

Great old church and cemetary. Good subject, compotiton, execution, nice focus, good crop. I prefer color, but this will work. Nice job. PTL8 Color would have been a 10 but it really does deserve a 9 as it is.

A levels adjustment or similar photo correction would give the picture more punch. Good composition.

IMO the relationship between the title and picture are key elements in this challenge. Will your title lead me to read your story? Maybe, maybe not.
