I went to load my 69 cent special with film today to use it for the Holga/Lomo side challenge, and found I couldn't. Take a close look at the mechanical bits.

The advance and rewind mechanisms are on the wrong sides from where they should be. The advance mechanism is positioned to pull film back into the cassette and the rewind knob (hidden on the bottom) on the takeup spool would pull film out of the cassette.

Perhaps I need to rewind all the film out of the cartridge before shooting and then advance it back in as I take photos, operating the camera in reverse?

It worked:

I figure I'll have to reel all the film out of the camera onto the takeup spool, and then wind it back in as I take pictures.

I might try that, but what would be the anticipated result?

I looked at the link to Flickr. Very cool. I'll give that a shot and see what happens.

I would consider building a camera mechanically backwards to be in the "design flaw" category.

It is the thumbwheel on the upper right, directly above the film cartridge. (The "levers" and controls on top are all fake, except for the shutter button)

I'd have to see the top of the camera to be of any help. *shrug*

Where is the film advance lever?

This would be a good candidate for a redscale experiment... wind the film on an empty spool, leaving a short tag on the cartridge, then turn the spool over so the emulsion side faces the back of the camera. Tape the end to the short tag, then shoot away...

I see what looks like a little diagram at the upper left, just over the film path? Is that directions for loading it? That's a strange camera. Even if you unspool the film and put it on the left, how would you know how far to advance it for the next shot?
Can't wait to see the pix. : )
On second thought, maybe it had power wind to a spool on the left that's missing, and the knurled knob is for rewinding the film into the cartridge when it is exposed. I don't see an advance lever of any kind. Look in the top of the pocket on the left for a drive for a take up spool. Maybe you can make one from the spool out of a roll of film if it's missing.
