This is an Exacta VX which I used in the 1950s and 1960s. It still works. Serial number is 789344. The camera is described here:
Exacta VX Page

According to This page it was made in 1955 or 1956.

The lens is a 50mm Schneider-Kreuznach Xenon 1.9 which is described here and according to This the optics were designed in 1925.

I haven't used this camera in a "long" time but it still seems to work. It apparently sold for #341.70 in 1956 which is about $2,700 today. I think I bought it used but I cannot remember where I got it,

I like the styling of this one. I just bought a camera the other day that has the shutter release mounted similar to this. A little odd. I wonder if it gave any advantage to have it in the front like this?

Interesting!

Per one of the links you provided ---> "...as used by Jimmy Stewart in Alfred Hitchcock's thriller Rear Window..."

Cool-looking camera, an unusual design.
