This was taken on the South Kaibab Trail around midday. South Kaibab Trail is free and located along the grand canyon in Az united states. The difficult hike into south Kaibab pays off... big time!

Really interesting and so much to look at. I love your bold but confident B&W conversion. I wish the moon was more of a feature though.

I'd have never seen that moon if you hadn't mentioned it in your title! I like B&W photo's in general, however this one seems harsh because it's so "busy" with all of the branches, etc... It seems that this was probably taken in the late morning with a strong polarization in the upper left? I'd be interested in seeing the color version of this. :-) Good luck.
