Challenge: Entrance II (Basic Editing)
Collection: Portfolio
Camera: Olympus E-30
Lens: Olympus 70-300mm F/4.0-5.6
Location: Colorado
Date: Mar 26, 2010
Aperture: f22
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/320
Date Uploaded: Mar 30, 2010

All processing was done in Raw
Fiddled with contrast, Brightness, and clarity to give it an overexposed look. It kinda gives it an antique look to me.
Also messed with saturation a little to make the red and yellow pop.

Greetings from the Critique Club.
Hello Kris , I’m Alan.

First I look and analyze the photo, then look at photographers comments. Based on that I think you did well in PP presenting the image as you wanted it, so I won’t nit pick, ok well maybe a tiny bit more contrast might have helped.
I copied your image and looked at a couple of things, first I flipped the image horizontal, now in this case it would not work as the sign would be spelled backwards, but I wonder if that perspective ( sign on the left) might have made the story easier for some ? I have a large wide screen monitor as I believe most on DPC do, even using F11 I had to scroll a bit to view all the image, I think you could easily have cropped 1/3-½ of the uneventful sky. I don’t know, have a look in your PP software, I thought doing both made for a stronger image.
All in all I appreciated the break from the mundane in this challenge, thank you for using your imagination..

If you have any questions on my insights please feel free to PM me.
Alan.

I gave you a 7 for this...Although it took me a little while to ready the sign and "get" the picture...I did get it...and the gray sky didn't bother me because of the sign...maybe if you could have seen a little more of the sign (just a touch)...but I got the picture...or so I thought I did...

Had the sky not been so blown out - the photo would have been one of the better ones in here. I like that it's not a door - but the whole upper third of the picture is white. I know ya can't control the conditions, but sometimes the time doesn't warrant the right shot.
