High contrast black and white works well for the subject. The contrast with the smiling faces in the shop window display is marked.

This is such a great capture, what I like verry much about it is the contrast between one unhapy and most probably verry lonely person and the happy couple in that picture next to him. Also I'm sure it whas a verry good choice to make this b/w colors I think would only ruin it's impact. Absolutely wonderful story here, worth 1 million words. Congratulations - 10 + favorites!

Sad situation, but wonderful capture! I really like the composition and the black and white treatment. The best part of the image to me though is the painting in the shop behind the guy, it just increases the contrast between the homeless guy and the world of those with money and jobs and nice paintings and really brings it home. I wouldn't do a thing differently with this photo.
