Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Product Shot II (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Nikon D300s
Lens: Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro for Nikon
Location: Melbourne, Australia
Date: Mar 22, 2010
Aperture: F3.2
ISO: 500
Shutter: 1/10sec
Galleries: Macro, Advertisement
Date Uploaded: Mar 21, 2010

The Image: Put the watch in my clothes washer barrel and lit the thing with a portable LED light. Live View in the D300S made it easy. I like the bokeh in this.

The Edit: Applied adjustment layer mask for colour balance, sharpness, noisereduction, gaussian blur, levels. I was going to get rid of the blue from the antireflective coating on the watch, but I think it ads something. I wish the time was 10 to 2 so you could see more of the branding and text.

The Prediction...low 6's hopefully

Post: well, it was low 6's. Yes, it was in the washing machine, yes, wish I had not have blocked OMEGA with the minute hand, yes, yes, yes...

This maybe sound nit-picky, but if this were shot for a company, it could lose you the job. The reason why the clock hands are usually placed on the three and the ten is because the hands shouldn't cover the brand name. Omega would not be happy if they were paying you and their name was covered up! Just saying : ) Very nice shot otherwise.

Your background works so much better than the plain white I have been seeing so far.

the details really give the watch a lot of pop - but i really am not a fan of the overly busy background

Cool background for this, great colours. Did you put it in the washer or dryer?

The background is distracting. Sharp focus though. I really wish you had chosen a different background. The steel strap on the right side looks a bit scuffed as well.

This is the best watch shot I've seen so far. Thankyou for cropping it tight. Is that a washing machine drum I can see? :)

good clean shot, the bg makes it interesting (inside washing machine?)
