 A Tri-Color Heron was fishing by flying low and running the smaller fish up to the edge of the water.
I was walking and shooting with my monopod hooked into my belt to help hold the camera steady.
Manual Sigma 400mm f5.6, APO, no filter.
Basic edit with iPhoto 09.

Absolutely beautiful shot with the wings extended, and there's nice contrast between the bird and the background. I found a rather interesting heron the other day, but he's so similar to his background that he hardly shows at all. Heron on Fishing Boat

I also like the detail of the water drops coming off his foot.

Beautiful wings of this bird. Nice to see how he/she is walking on the water. Too big for your cats, I suppose :)
