 First contest entry shot with my new Canon 5D MKII. :D Decided to break the camera in with a short road trip up the California coast. I was kinda bummed that it was a new moon this weekend, but tried to make the best of it.

I'm sure this will probably bomb since most of the tones are dark and a lot of people have crappy monitors, but I can't pass up a night photography challenge. :) Expect to see many more night shots from me in the future - the 5D MKII is just TOO cool!

Oh, and since people may comment on it, that tiny glowing spot on the rock on the right is actually a hole in the rock that's letting through the twilight colors. ;)

Thanks, Robert! Yeah, I'm beyond impressed with the low light capability of this camera. :) The 20D was awesome, but ISO 1600 on the 5D MKII is like 400 or lower on the 20D. :D And thank you to everyone who voted and left comments!

Great job, dude. Aren't the 5D's incredible for long exposure? Mine didn't score as well, sadly, but I had the distinction of hand-holding it in full darkness at ISO 1600 and getting a usable image from it :-)

Dang, that takes me back... Way back in the day, we used to camp here. I don't think that's allowed anymore? Lovely capture. Probably getting dinged because twilight isn't "night"? I think that's what's happening to me :-(

This is beautiful, the contrast between stars and sunrise is perfect. This is tied as best in challenge for me (9).
