Thanks for the comments and valuable critique.
Its art. Art isn't necessarily smooth, happy, balanced, or cheerful. The attempt here was to contrast the distant treeline--dormant for the Winter--with the yellow grass as an unwelcome (or welcome, depends on your point of view) intruder representing life and Spring on its way. Maybe that didn't come through. Oh well like I said...its art.

An image of contrasts: saturated / desaturated; sharp/ blurry; foreground / background - nothing in between. Well made, I like it (scored a 7 earlier, back to comment).

A nice depth here, I now feel cold (chilled)

7 - Like the simplicity, the lines, curves, seemingly color on b&w aspect - given the image as is, perhaps the grass either sharper or softer for added effect - also does seem slightly unbalanced overall, whether because of the crop at the bottom and/or the amount of sky - not sure.

Love the simple yet vibrant golden color against the simple almost dull background. Works really well imo.

a nice example of selective desat enhancing an image

I like the focus on the grass and the contrast with the background...but to me it seems that you could loose most of the left side of the picture without harming it at all...in fact to me it seems like it would really strengthen it

Yeah, this is beautiful. I don't like it for the obvious allegory, but I like it for the sparseness and the gentle curves. Even more negative space at top would have made this a real winner for me; if the sky was weighing down on the lightness of the scene, and the white hill was just a little less in view, and the whole thing just pushed down slightly. I would have been touched by that. But thanks, this is very pretty.
