The shadow of the hat forces you to look under it. I think your eye is attracted to the female first then you start searching under the hat.

cloned hair strands,
cropped,
sized,
applied Gaussian blur then faded to 40%,
smart sharpen: 91%, .4, 1,
adjusted levels slightly, sharpened 28%, .2, 1,

This should have scored higher. Much stronger if the left arm was not showing so as to let eyes slide down the curls of hair with the beautiful neck contour.

Interesting take. Not quite sure I would think of something like this first for a Shadows challeng. Technically a good photo.

I get the idea... HOWEVER you will prolly not do well because "shadow" to most people is light being blocked not eye shadow... Maybe if you were to only have the eye with the eye shadow the people would have gotten it but many people will say this DNMC
