In S Florida, it's common to burn pasture land every couple of years to control underbrush, and grow fresh food for the critters. This was in this area;
Spirit of the Wild State Game Reserve
I stopped on the way to work and shot a few pix of the flames.

I know they're necessary, but I hate the controlled burns. They do them here in the pine barrens.

We could use more controlled burns out here -- four major fires in the past year in our county.

These make me nervous as well. Your underbrush seems to be even higher than ours.

Aren't there alot of lighting strike fires in the summer as well..
Guess depends on the dryness of the area.
