I pass this field every morning on the way to work. (Same field that has my red ribbon tree in it.) This exploratory rig has been up and down every couple of months for the last year and a half.
I've been keeping my eye on the site for the last week, waiting for some good light. I finally had a clear morning with nice colors in the sky, though some clouds would have been nice.
I really ought to keep some hiking boots in the truck. This isn't good for my work shoes.
I tried to avoid too much of the heavily saturated orange/purple look that I see in so many landscapes, but that IS what the colors were. Purple pipes and orange sky. It didn't look quite right any other way. Drilling rigs aren't exactly a cliche subject subject with broad appeal on DPC, so I'm not in hope of a killer score. I do like what I achieved with this shot, however.
Anticipated critiques:
-Oversaturated
-Odd or unbalanced composition
-Too dark
Post-challenge notes:
Did well enough, and in my own happy zone, though not up to what I'd hoped for. I didn't manage to avoid a bunch of votes that thought it sucked. Can't please everyone.
