 put a empty eggshell on a pin, balanced it on a white board, added a snail, hung a flashlight above both, turned off all lights, turned on flashlight, gave it a spin, opened the shutter, shone hand held purple LED onto scene, and waited to see what i got.

Very cool lighting. And you must have had lots of patience to get that tack to balance with the egg on top of it!

Is there a link between the egg and the shell that I'm not getting? (Though as soon as I typed that I realized they both are similar due to the "shell")

it seems that the focus is just a little soft to me...might be the back lighting that makes it seem that way
