This was probably the most technical shot I have ever submitted. I spent a long time getting the lighting right, and a lot of time in PP too.
The lighting was a dark field lighting technique as described in Light - Science & Magic. The setup was very similar to:

In addition, I added a third light for the grapes, blocked with a gobo (my imac screen actually!) to limit the spread to just the front edge of the grapes.
It looks like the grapes on the right are further away, but they are actually just smaller grapes.
The background accent light was snooted with a cardboard roll and gelled with a piece of cellophane painted with some of my daughter's red face paint. Didn't expect it to come through purple, but I liked the result.
