This setup diagram is the lighting setup I used for this shot.
In this shot I used 2 sb-800's as my main lights. One is set to full power and sits tightly in my 16"x16" softbox thanks to the Gary Fong lightsphere. I had the softbox standing about 5 feet off the ground pointed downward on the subject hat illuminating the hat the straw that was in his mouth.
My fill light was another sb-800 wrapped in a 12" long (homemade) snoot pointed directly at the subject hat just under the brim. This flash was set at 1/8th the power so I didn't blow out the areas where the 2 lights crossed each other on the subject.
Shutter speed was set to 1/160th.
Flashes were set off using a wireless remote triggering device I got off ebay a while back.
